Creating a Child's "All About Me" Page

The "ALL ABOUT ME" page is something I put off. I reason this procrastination with the "idea" that I won't forget the age he was when he loved Batman so much that he slept with his new Batman shoes on the first night. Unfortunately, I forget all kinds of great moments about my kids that don't necessarily have anything to do with the pictures I have taken.

I know I don't remember the things I want to remember because when I look back at pages I have done including this type of information, I think to myself, "I didn't remember that he did that. I am so glad I wrote it down back then." I also would not have relayed the information the same if I had tried to write at a later date. I catch myself laughing at how silly I wrote something or not remembering that's how I felt at the time.

So, here is a list of things that might spark some action on your part to start creating these pages. Don't limit them to children, do one or two about you, your parents, your significant other. I am also including a few of my pages that I have done in the past. They aren't my favorite layouts, but they do the job.

Tucker's Picks     Third Year Picks

Include likes as well as dislikes:

BOOKS, MOVIES, FRIENDS, FOOD, TV SHOWS, GAMES, COLORS, TEACHERS, PLACES TO GO, SUBJECTS IN SCHOOL, RESTAURANTS, MUSIC, SPORTS, CAR ACTIVITIES, HOLIDAY, TRADITIONS, SCHOOL WORK, SHOES, SENTIMENTAL THINGS, TOYS, HAIR DO'S & DON'TS, COLLECTIONS, IDOLS, FADS, CELEBRITY CRUSHES, RELATIVES.

Also include things like your kids talents from your perspective. Kid's love to hear from someone else what he or she is good at. Include things that make them laugh, scare them, or make them sad.

Write down on a notepad when your child says something funny or ask an interesting question. Record the date that they read their first word or learn to tie their shoe laces. Kids also make up some great games with outlandish rules.

Don't forget to mention difficult times even down to a rough day at school. And why not include those great "talking back" phrases. Those may come in handy some day.

Another idea for a page layout is to create a chronological page of yearly things. For example, Halloween costumes from each year all put together in one layout, friends over the years, child's weight and height each year, chores at home throughout the year.

Well, I hope this has caused a stir and you are jotting things down as you read this. There are so many ways to create these wonderful pages. However you choose to create one, it will be cherished and read many times in the years to come.
