Imprintables???

What are Imprintables and how do you use them in layouts.  First, Imprintables are blank invitations more or less.  These can be seen more and more in layouts for scrapbooking as frames for pictures.  The designs are very cute and go along with many themes that are seen often in Scrapbooking.  However, they aren’t the greatest for every layout.

Some Imprintables can have a lot going on and my not be best suited for a picture on it.

Take a look at the “2nd Annual Picnic layout.  This Imprintable is great for reflecting the Fourth of July theme but a little too busy to be the focus of the picture, especially since the pictures that are silhouetted are so big and overpowering.  But, because this layout has so many bold pictures, I didn’t want the title or journaling to get lost.  So, the Imprintable is perfect to set it apart.  Don’t assume you have to use these for photos.  They are great for journaling and setting the theme at the same time.

Tucker's First Pool Experience

Imprintables come in all sizes that don’t always match the size of your photos.  The layout titled Dallon and Tucker is a great example.  This Imprintable is actually cut in half and spliced back together with the center shortened so that the photo would fit in the opening.  Many Imprintables have a design that this is possible.  If you are looking at an Imprintable but know that it is too big, look to see if there is a place where you can cut it and put it back together so that your cut marks are hidden.

Some companies like Frances Meyer and Kangaroo & Joey make coordinating products to go with their Imprintables.  Tucker’s first pool experience shows these products together.  Create a sticker border with matching stickers and create a focus picture by mounting your picture on an Imprintable.  Now the theme is carried throughout the layout without having to use different styles.

Sometimes the Imprintable has an easy design that can be carried over into another area of the layout.  This Kangaroo & Joey layout has simple daisies that can be cut out of cardstock, outlined with black pen, and put together to match.  Don’t forget to add a few swirl punches to the layout.

Imprintables are a great way to get a theme going or just to add some color to any layout.  Be sure to think of other way to use them like for journaling instead of photos and your layouts will be a big hit.
