Precision Punching
By Paige Eliason

Quilt Borders create fun geometric shapes.  They can be extremely versatile depending on color choice.  Here we have a traditional red, white and blue quilt border.  This border is easily created by using a square punch, cut in half to, creating triangles and putting them together in different combinations to then make a quilt square.   The full instructions for this border appear on the Punch Krazy CD, Paige’s Picture Perfect Punch Art by PK Possibilities.  This border can also be created using the decorative square punch.  Either way, you have a fabulous look!

Summer is here and the palm tree is a great way to add that tropical flair to your scrapbook pages.  The palm tree and sun are both easy to recreate.  For the fronds, simply punch super jumbo circles.  Cut the circles in half.  Then, cut out the little notches on each frond.  The tree was hand cut.  The coconuts add some fun using the small circle punch.  Embellish the coconuts with some pen work.   The sun is a fun way to use your swirl punches.  Punch a super jumbo swirl and place it on your paper.  The rays are made using the zigzag  border punch.  If you don’t have this punch, simply cut the rays  with zigzag decorative scissors.  It’s a tropical delight!

The punching here is easy, but the details create elegance.   Simply punch McGill’s new Dragon Fly from their new outdoor punch series out of gold paper and vellum.  Cut the wings off of the gold dragon fly and cut the tail off the vellum dragon fly.  Apply glue to the gold body and adhere the vellum piece on top.  Now here comes the tricky part....Using your fine point gold gel pen, embellish your dragon fly with pen work.  It’s easy to outline, place dots, swirls, and zigzags on the wings.  This is a stunning look using gold and vellum on black paper.

Last, but certainly not least.  An exquisite heritage page.  First, you need a beautiful portrait.  Next, punch fleur de lis and the squiggle border punch.  To begin, place the squiggle border punch in an “X” formation.  Then, place a fleur de lis in the center.  Place additional fleur de lis next to the top and bottom of your “X” formation.  Continue along the edge of your picture.  This makes a beautiful border and if you’re up for it, create a frame like I have done here.    More complete, step by step instructions appear on the Punch Krazy CD, Paige’s Picture Perfect Punch Art by PK Possibilities.
