New Punching Designs

The more I work with punches, the more fun designs I figure out. I especially love the super jumbo punches available. These four projects are really easy to re-create.  The first one is a simple bear. If you wanted an appropriate sized body instead of a journaling square, you could use an oval cutter to cut one out.

The head is the super jumbo circle and the arms and legs are super jumbo hearts. The ears are small circles placed behind the head. The nose is freehand cut but you can always use a mini heart if you don't trust your freehand. Chalk around the edges of each piece and then use a .05 black pen and outline each piece. This technique adds a lot to the overall finished piece.

New Babies

The New Babies layout is embellished with bunnies. This is also a very simple project that only needs the super jumbo heart, the jumbo heart, and the super jumbo circle. Punch one white super jumbo heart and one jumbo pink heart. Cut them down the middle and layer them Place the pointed ends under the super jumbo circle head. The last step is drawing on the face.

Flowers are always a favorite in punch are. Most of the floral punch art seems to be formal. Here is a whimsical turn on creating flowers. For this project you will need one scalloped flower (any size depending on how big or small) and the medium and jumbo circle punch. Punch out two green jumbo circles, one white super jumbo flower and a goldish, yellow medium circle. Place the green circle back in the punch slot half way and punch out the two leaves. Outline each piece in black and add black dots to the gold circle and details to the flower and leaves.

Snow Fun

Believe it or not these penguins are easy too. You will need one black jumbo circle, two black jumbo hearts, two red jumbo hearts, one black super jumbo circle, and one super jumbo oval. The feet are the hardest part. Cut each red heart like the legs of the above bear. Insert the rounded end into the small heart punch and punch out the web feet.

Place the white oval on top of the super jumbo black circle. The two black hearts go on either side behind the body half way. The jumbo black circle is the head. Freehand cut the scarf.   Click here to see a punching diagram for these projects.
