Pumpkins with Punches

It is now November and pumpkin pictures are turning up everywhere. Here are a few different ways to make pumpkins with your punches.

The first design is using the super jumbo apple punch from Marvy Uchida in the Pumpkin Patch layout. Turn the apple upside down and use chalk to add the detail. Freehand cut a stem and punch leaves using Emagination ivy leaves and a spiral for more detail. Use chalks on these pieces as well. I mounted the pumpkins on a burgundy cardstock and trimmed around the punch to give more definition.

Using a balloon punch and an equal sized circle punch, you can create a more whimsical pumpkin. In the Bell Gardens layout, I used the large balloon and circle as well as the super jumbo size ones. Punch out two circles and overlap them in the middle. Place the balloon punch upside down in the middle of where the circles overlap. Freehand cut a stem and place on top of the balloon tail. I used a black pen to outline the circles and the balloon to add more detail.

Halloween Cutie

Halloween Cutie uses the same technique with the balloon in the center but the pumpkin top is the bottom of the super jumbo apple with a freehand stem. The face for this one as is done using the hand triangle punch and the large circle punch. Punch out a circle and then re-punch it to get a crescent shape. Use a hand rectangle punch to punch the teeth. Use the triangle punch to do the eyes and nose.

The Pumpkin Carving layout is made using three jumbo circles. Overlap two of them and place the third right in the middle. I mounted this one on green cardstock and used chalk on the edges. The eyes on this pumpkin are made with the jumbo heart punch. Punch out a heart and turn it upside down. Make a V cut towards the middle so that it is barely connected. Use a 1/4" circle punch to punch half way on the insides of the eyes.

With all of these ideas, you are bound to have a few of these punches and can add great pumpkin embellishments easily to your cute pumpkin patch layouts!
