Creative Paper Use

When looking for layout ideas in magazines or on the Internet, the layouts can look very labor intensive. Most of the time for layouts is spent on actually thinking of the idea and selecting the right accents and colors. The actual time spent "gluing" is fairly minimal. These layouts are quick and creative.

The design element is quick by using colors and creating block or stripes. Picking the colors to use is the key. The "Tucker" layout is a soft look but creates an impact. There aren't too many colors in the photos. By using the same colors present in the soft photos, a subtle effect is created. Cutting four squares is easy to do as well.

Rockin'

The "Rockin'" layout uses the same idea but with bolder colors. Pick a couple of colors and skew the whole sheet on a base color. Trim off the overhanging edges and you have incorporated color in a dramatic way with very little effort.

Pokemon

"Pokemon" and "Our Engagement" use colored paper cut in strips. Red, black, and white are the signature colors for a Pokeball (in case you didn't know). Cut various strips of red and with (or another color) and adhere to the black. The Engagement layout has the strips cut at angles. Again, the colors are subtle so I chose similar colors that were present in the pictures.

This is a quick way to add color and a great design element to your layouts. Choose the colors carefully for a knockout layout and see how quick the pages turn out.
