Scrapbooking.com Magazine has formed charitable relationships with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Autism Society of America. We feel that these two groups best represent a population that medically benefits from scrapbooking. Many families of patients with Alzheimer's use scrapbooks to help their loved ones remember special moments and personal history. Autistic children often retain more when using pictures and scrapbooks as teaching aids.
To promote these organizations and to raise awareness, Scrapbooking.com Magazine would like to publish these stories. If you, or someone you know has experienced how scrapbooking has improved the life of individuals with these diagnoses, please write to us. We are looking for heart warming stories, layouts and albums pertaining to Alzheimer's or Autism. Please contact me to share your experiences and give hope to others.

Projects + Products = Profits

article layoutManufacturers in the art and craft industry are in a unique position for free advertising. Many consumers will buy products after they’ve seen how to use them. We all know what a powerful selling tool this is because sales increase dramatically after demonstrations, make-n-takes and other how-to promotions. You can combine all the features of a step-by-step demonstration and market your products to a huge group of consumers that are already interested in paper crafting. How? Utilize scrapbooking and craft magazines.

There are several reputable publications that have sprung up as a result of increasing interest in paper crafting. Many, like Scrapbooking.com Magazine, are more than happy to have great projects submitted for features and articles. Remarkable projects appeal to both editors and consumers, and “remarkable” doesn’t necessarily mean complicated or difficult. It means layouts or projects that are visually appealing. Editors want to showcase art that will sell the magazine, but they also want to teach crafters good habits, fundamentals, new techniques and unique ideas so that readers are inspired.

Typical crafters sometimes struggle with basic art principles. Skilled designers already know how to use color, focal points and embellishments to create clean and eye-catching artwork.

And wouldn’t you know it, manufacturers often employ skilled designers to make high caliber projects with their products. I know that many manufacturers already have amazing artwork that was created for displays, trade shows and other events. Get double duty from them as articles and features for the magazines. Check out the Editorial Schedule for Scrapbooking.com Magazine by clicking here. The afore-mentioned projects will probably fit into some of the upcoming months’ themes. If not, there are several general categories that also need to be filled each month.

Be sure to read the submission guidelines for each publication. Some magazines have specific topics and contests, but general submissions are usually allowed. Use a particular project in only one magazine (we don’t like to share). Have the designers keep track of products they used for our supply lists and brief instructions during the creation phase. If the designers have a special story or use a unique technique, they should also write any accompanying article. This will make the editor’s job a lot easier and will put your projects at the top of the list. Designers know the stories and interesting nuances behind the art which make the article worth reading. And they don’t have to be skilled writers - that’s what the editors are for.

Take advantage of this opportunity to create partnerships with an award winning editorial team for the benefit consumers. Manufacturers will achieve brand recognition and showcase their products in creative ways: a win-win situation for them, the retailers and the consumers.
