Blog of the Week

Pam Hornschu: "I began my blog recently as another outlet for feeding my creative soul. I love to share my passion for papercrafting with others in the crafting world, to inspire and be inspired. My blog gives me the opportunity to share what I love about both of these companies, as well as papercrafting in general."

Back to school isn’t just for children. This year, thousands of young adults will venture off to college to be enlightened, instructed and earn that essential degree. We give tribute to these future leaders in the August feature, College Life. Artist Carly Blaiss shows us how to keepsake this important experience. And Pamela J. Pemsler creates an entire album dedicated to her daughter during this time in her life.

"Play is a wonderful method of relieving stress and anxiety. For me, swirling paint into gel medium or sprinkling glitter on top of glue is a great escape route. On one stressful day, I came home, dropped my daily stack of ungraded test papers, and ran to my studio. I pulled paint, blank canvases, Diamond Dust, stencils, and Glimmer Mist. The spraying, swirling, and creating began. Beauty can come from tension."

Ranger is delighted to announce that they've teamed up with Jenni Bowlin Studios to create the Jenni Bowlin for Ranger line of Stamp Pads and Paint Dabbers! Jenni and Ranger have developed this new product line of Dye Inks and Acrylic Paint Dabbers to complement her extensive line of paper and embellishment products. In keeping with Jenni’s vintage style with a modern twist, the palette is a fresh burst of color with a nod to all things worn, old and tattered.

Documenting personal history is an important part of scrapbooking. Lend a voice to those who never had the opportunity by creating pages to celebrate their legacy. For your subject, use a long-lost relative, or a direct ancestor, or perhaps you’d even like to make up a fictional character and record their imaginary life. Whatever path you choose, send the journey to us in layout format for our latest contest. Click here for more information...

     Altered Baggage
article 1

"Considering that I’m one of those women who just loves to stress out, I had to do something about my generic black luggage. I mean, I’m preparing to travel internationally, for the very first time, to Australia, alone. That’s a little out of my comfort zone. My biggest worry? The airline might lose my luggage, or worse, someone might inadvertently take it from baggage claim! Then I’d be stuck in Australia, with no clean clothes, hair products, make-up, or worse - shoes! So I had what, for me, was the brilliant idea of making my bags a little more unique and noticeable... not to mention definitely, unmistakably, mine."

"At the beginning of every school year my husband and I take my daughter to school on the first day. It’s important to use that we are both part of this big day together. And every year I scrap the photos that we take that day! It’s one of the rare occasions that I get out from behind the camera and actually have my picture taken"
