Blog of the Week
Melissa Samuels: 'I teach scrapbooking,
cardmaking, and altered art, so my blog
contains updates about class offerings, a
student gallery, and fun class photos. It's
also filled with inspirational projects I'm
working on at any given time, how-to videos,
and basically anything scrapbooking related." |

Artists across the world are celebrating with us by creating
their own keepsakes. This month’s featured projects, Back to
School, show a variety of ways to capture these fleeting
moments. Michelle Houghton shares a sweet and simple
acknowledgment to her daughter’s first day of Kindergarten.

"I made this layout
with some scraps from another layout. I took this
photo of my daughter and her kindergarten teacher in
spring of 2009. She really
loved her teacher that year. The journaling
restates my daughters words, "I will see you again,
love you" to her teacher. This layout is now a
favorite for my daughter and me, so we put it in the
living room and enjoy it daily." |
Golden Artist Colors is
expanding its most popular paint line, the Heavy
Body Acrylics. Building on the strength of this
category, GOLDEN is adding five new colors: Bismuth
Vanadate Yellow, Transparent Brown Iron Oxide,
Pyrrole Red Dark, Permanent Maroon, and Chromium
Oxide Green Dark. Each color offers unique
properties, complementing existing colors already in
the family. |
Documenting personal history
is an important part of scrapbooking. Lend a voice
to those who never had the opportunity by creating
pages to celebrate their legacy. For your subject,
use a long-lost relative, or a direct ancestor, or
perhaps you’d even like to make up a fictional
character and record their imaginary life. Click here for more
information... |

"Use the cardstock and inks you already have on hand
and get creative! You can make your own, custom background
paper that enhances your photos without wasting precious
time searching for matchy-matchy products. Create your own
unique papers by using inks, stickles, Glimmer Mist, or
markers. It’s fun, creative, and saves you time and money."
