Beautiful paper crafting does not have to be complicated. And that’s not just talk. Making Memories’ acclaimed designers – including Jennifer Jensen, Julie Turner, and Erin Terrell – have put their ideas where their mouths are with the introduction of their new idea book, Paper Cachet. This elegant, artistic look at paper crafting’s potential features brilliantly simple ideas that can be created in as few as three steps.
“Even non-crafters know how fun it is to play with paper,” explains designer and creative director Pierce-Watne. “Throughout our lives we’ve learned how many things can be created with one simple piece of paper—airplanes, fortune tellers and origami. Paper Cachet is designed to put the ‘play’ back into paper crafting by demonstrating how to create fun pages, cards, or projects in simple and easy to replicate steps.”
The 9” x 9”, 128-page book offers up simple projects with a unique approach. Each chapter is dedicated to one basic technique, and is styled with the use of one common color. The effect is a gorgeous, approachable look at scrapbook pages; simple papercrafts such as garlands, wreaths, and lampshades; and variations of the same technique, demonstrated in that chapter’s monochromatic color palette.
Paper Cachet has devoted separate chapters to:
Embossing
Letters
Tearing
Altering
Decoupage
Punching
Paper Quilting
Stamping with Bleach
Folding
Embellishing
“We polled a number of beginning and advanced crafters about their priorities – the results of which we poured into this book,” Pierce-Watne explains. “A lot of people love technique-driven books, but they really want to see a visual overview of what can be done in 15 minutes or even less. Paper Cache delivers on that and more.” Making Memories’ Paper Cache will be available through scrapbooking and craft stores nationwide beginning May 2005.
