This article contains projects for beginner and intermediate stampers.

An unexpected color can change the way you view your holiday projects and breathe a little life into an old theme. Are there stamps in your collection that you’ve had for years and you’ve simply run out of ideas for them? Add a little extra oomph to your cards and treat bags by dressing up the traditional orange and black with a little purple and green.

This first project is an easy greeting card, which can be used for a party invitation as well. These lighthearted, whimsical stamps are sure to delight the recipient. Clear embossing on the images also adds some texture to the otherwise simple design.

Make your own party favors! You already have sandwich bags in the house—put them to use, along with the stamping supplies you already have, and assemble these cute loot bags. This project can be adapted for use with small pre-wrapped candy packs and given out when the kids come around on Halloween night.

The “matchbook” design of this next project makes it an easy extra to toss into the trick-or-treaters’ bags, or to use for party favors/place cards at a ghoulish feast. If there’s too much purple in this look for your taste, color in the pumpkins with an orange pencil to add a little depth.

Look for designer papers with your new color scheme. This shaker box was made with scrapbooking cardstock from Teri Martin’s Creative Imaginations line. This project can work as a decoration in your home or office, a table centerpiece, a place card or party favor, too! Wouldn’t it be fun to sneak into work early in the morning and place this card on a co-worker’s desk as an anonymous gift? This “card” was made to be an inch deep, to accommodate the candy corn “shakers,” but can be mailed in a small flat box or a large padded envelope....just write your greeting on the back. Also, as an alternative, before the final gluing on the back of the card, use a perforated wheel cutter to mark off an opening on the back so the recipient can take out the candy without tearing apart your box.

Don’t let these non-traditional colors spook you...it’s fun to go where few stampers have gone before! Check your local retail store for more ideas for your paper crafting projects this Haloween.
