This article contains projects for beginning paper crafters.

You wouldn’t know it from the way I dress or decorate my home, but sparky things on my cards and paper crafts make my eyes dance and my heart sing. Any time I think something is missing from a project, a bit of glitter or a rhinestone is usually the thing to complete my masterpiece. No time of year sparkles more than the holiday season, so here are four cards that sparkle.

The first project uses untraditional colors and assorted scrapbooking materials to create a fluffy Christmas card. A little glitter glue and the metal letters give the card just enough sparkle.

The next card is both untraditional in shape and color choices. The tall and skinny shape allows you to two cards of this size from one sheet of cardstock and the card will fit into a regular business-sized envelope that you’ve embellished with matching colors. The stamped image is colored with Twinkling H20s, my favorite watercolor medium. This product adds a bit of shimmer that you can’t see well in the photo here, but trust me, it’s lovely, not to mention a lot of fun.

The fuzzy chick from the Calendar Chicks collection inspired the soft colors for this card. Rhinestones and glitter glue complete the sparkly effect.

The next is a card with a classic tone ... it can also be reproduced easily for sending to all of your loved ones this season. If you don’t go in for Christmas cards, or find you never get them out on time, try this card as a new year’s greeting, but with a different stamp.

Look around your stash for anything that sparkles and shines....rhinestones, fibers, beads, buttons, glitter glues, foils....and add them to your projects this holiday season.
