This article highlights a step by step project for all levels of crafter.I had the privilege of meeting Suze Weinberg at Memory Trends in October. She showed off her new UTEE Brightz line and wowed me with her Faux Agate UTEE Tag project. UTEE Brightz are the newest in the UTEE line and are available in six gorgeous bright colors: Fuschia, Sunflower, Tiger Lily, Green Zinnia, Blue Iris and Violet. Melt art is a way for you to make fabulous embellishments for your projects, starting with these Faux Agate Tags.
- Non-stick Craft Sheet (Ranger)
- The Melting Pot (Ranger)
- Suze Weinberg UTEE Brightz (Ranger)
- UTEE Flex (Ranger)
- Kook Toolz Spatula (Ranger)
- Tag Shaped Cookie Cutter (Suze Weinberg Design Studio)
- Assorted Fibers (Artist’s Own)
Place your Melting Pot on top of the non-stick craft sheet. Heat Melting Pot and pour in one color of UTEE Brightz.
Put 1/2 scoop of UTEE Flex into first color and let the two melt together. The UTEE Flex helps make your melt art more resilient and durable than just UTEE alone. During the melting process, don’t stir or it will cause air bubbles.
When the first color and the UTEE Flex are both melted, carefully blend the two using the Kool Toolz Spatula.
Pour additional UTEE Brightz colors into pot as shown and let them all melt.
Use spatula to gently marble the colors.
Pour a puddle of the marbled colors onto craft sheet and immediately press tag cookie cutter into the hot UTEE. Use a pointed object (here, a pen cap) to make a hole in the tag. Hold and let UTEE cool.
When UTEE is cool, carefully remove tag shape.
Embellish tag with fibers. Use the negative UTEE as a frame.
Here are some other projects using the new UTEE Brightz: Faux Soldered Microscope Slides and a wooden picture frame. For the slides, simply dip the edges of your sandwiched slides and art into the hot melted, marbled UTEE. For the frame, simply pour the melted, marbled UTEEE onto the project.
Check out your local retailer for thes products to create these projects.
