Fireworks are a 4th of July tradition both children and adults love to share every year. Families gather together for a day of fun and celebration - a perfect scrapbook moment. This patriotic paper collection from The Paper Patch blends the essence of these traditions. With patriotic words, stars and stripes in red and blue, all you have to do is add your 4th of July photos for an all-American layout.
If you’re having a party or giving 4th of July gifts this year, use your patriotic scrapbook supplies to make just the tag portion of the layout. Follow the same steps to create the tag and use it to accent cards, gifts and party tables. Personalize the tags by writing individual names on each one.
You can also make personalized party invitations with your scrapbook supplies. This invitation, designed by Chia Wald, uses paper from Karen Foster Design’s Patriotic Paper Collection.
Supplies:
12” x 12” Flags Patterned Paper #60607 (Karen Foster Design)
Cardstock in assorted colors of tan and blue
Antique Typewriter Lower Alpha Stamps (Image Tree Rubber Stamps/E K Success)
Van Dyke Brown Ink Pad - Nick Bantock Collection (Ranger Industries)
Buttons
Thread
Scissors
Pencil
Designer’s Dries Clear Glue (Art Institute)
Brown ink pad
Sponge
Start by cutting a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” section from the paper and attaching it to the front of a navy blue card base.
Cut stars and a 2 ¼” x 1” rectangle from assorted colors of cardstock then, sponge brown ink onto the edges of the stars and rectangle. Stamp a greeting onto the rectangle.
Attach the stars to the front of the card, layering different colors. Thread small buttons and knot the thread on the back of the button for a sewn look. Then, attach the buttons onto the stars. Attach a large light colored star to the inside of the card and hand write party information inviting guests to a fabulous 4th of July cookout.
So, in the spirit of our National Anthem, “O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave”, show your patriotism in your crafts and celebrate this wonderful nation we call home.
