Artist Trading Cards or ATCs are a favorite in the paper crafting world. They’re fun to make and trade. You get to create beautiful cards and share your ideas with other talented artists. If you are new to ATCs, here is the first in a series of ATC ideas with step-by-step instructions we will share with you to get your collection started.



Here’s what you need to make this Black & White Elephant ATC:

• 2 ½”x3 ½” black cardstock for card base
• Medium gray cardstock
• Pale gray cardstock
• Gold Leafing Pen (Krylon)
• Designer’s Dries Clear Glue (Art Institute)
• Elephant rubber stamp #A828F(Rubber Stampede)
• Alpine Fern rubber stamp #C3637(Hero Arts)
• Versafine Onyx Black ink pad (Tsukineko)
• Colorbox Frost White ink pad (Clearsnap)
• Scissors



Randomly stamp fern onto black cardstock with white ink. Stamp elephant onto medium gray cardstock with black ink. Tear a square of pale gray cardstock that is slightly larger than the elephant image.



Cut out the elephant. Edge the black and pale gray cardstock pieces with the gold metallic marker.



Glue the pale gray piece on the black card. Glue the elephant onto the pale gray layer.



Using the same elephant stamp, here is another ATC variation. What you will need is:

2 ½”x3 ½” Olive green cardstock for card base
2 ½”x4 ¼” Black cardstock
Tan cardstock
Sage green cardstock
Medium gray cardstock
Designer’s Dries Clear Glue (Art Institute)
Elephant rubber stamp #A828F(Rubber Stampede)
Tree rubber stamp #550H20(Posh Impressions)
Adirondack Lettuce Green ink pad (Ranger Industries)
Black crochet thread
Scissors
Ruler
Cellophane tape





Stamp trees onto card base with green ink. Stamp elephant onto medium gray cardstock with black ink. Cut out elephant. Tear strips of tan and sage green cardstock



Glue tan and sage green strips over card base. Glue elephant over the strips.



Wrap card with crochet thread, securing ends to back with tape.





Glue card onto the black cardstock, matching sides and centering top to bottom. Use a ruler to hold the card ends in place while folding the black cardstock over the card. Glue the black cardstock in place.
