Cardstock

Memorabilia
Step 1: From cardstock cut the following pieces: one bright green 4 x 6 ½, two dark green 5 ½ x 6 ½, two olive green 2 ½ x 6 ½, six gold 3 x 5, four gold 2 ½ x 5.
Step 2: Along the top and bottom (the 4 edges) of the bright green cardstock measure and mark it at each ½ interval. Use a stylus to score lines connecting the top and bottom marks. Fold, accordion style, along the score lines. This will be the spine of the album.
Step 3: The dark green pieces will be the front and back covers, glue them to the ends of the bright green piece.
Step 4: Apply a thin line of glue to each end of the olive green pieces and across their centers. Attach to the inside of the covers butting the edge up against the spine. This piece forms two pockets inside each cover.
Step 5: The 3 x 5 gold pieces form the flags. Lay two of these pieces inside the back cover, centering them between the top and bottom and leaving a small space between them. Use these two flags as a temporary placement guide for the other flags. Lining up with the bottom guide, attach one flag to the front of each spine fold. Lining up with the upper guide, glue a flag to the back of one spine fold, then attach the two guide flags to the back of the remaining folds. Slide the four 2 ½ x 5 gold pieces into the pockets on the front and back covers. At this point the basic album is complete and ready for embellishment.
Step 6: For my cover art I wanted an aged look. I used a jar lid opener (it reminds me of textured shelf liner) to stamp distress ink onto a sage green cardstock then layered on some vintage images related to my journal subject.
