I started out with a cute stamp set from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. This stamp set includes several children images, one of them of a little boy holding flowers. (The little boy actually looks a bit like my nephew, so I know she’ll enjoy it!) I stamped the child holding flowers, three bees and the sentiment onto white cardstock with black memories ink. Then I colored the images with caran’de ache colored pencils. (These are my favorite pencils as they flow easily onto paper and give nice results.) Then I cut the child and bee images out, trimming closely. I cut the verse into a little tag shape and punched a small hole in the top right corner.
Using glue, I mounted the child image to a scrap of yellow cardstock and cut around him, allowing a small edge to show. (This way he seems to “pop” from the background.) From there I took a seed packet and using double sided tape, taped a planting label stick to the back of the packet. The gloves had a folded tag on the top of them so using the double sided tape again, I adhered it to the back of the seed packet.
Then I took approximately 15” of sheer yellow ribbon and tied it around the glove and seed packet, creating a bow to the front, allowing the streamers to hang freely. Using a small daisy punch and a yellow scrap, I punched a small flower and colored the center with an orange pencil. Then I punched a 1/16” hole in the center of the flower and inserted a yellow brad. From there I punched another hole between the child’s hands and inserted the flower and sentiment tag with the yellow brad. I mounted the child with pop dots to the bottom center of the flower seed packet. Using glue, I attached the three bee images and allowed to dry. Later I highlighted the flowers and bee’s wings with glitter glue.
This project could be tied onto a watering can or a gift package for some added appeal. You might even want to make one to give as a shower gift to a new bride along with a box of garden tools. I’m sure you’ll come up with even more ideas for it and hope you have as much fun creating it as I did.
