When I moved to America from England in 2001 I remember walking into craft store seeing all the scrapbooking supplies and saying to my husband “Oh, I could NEVER get into all that”. Famous last words as they say, because look at me now! Things changed for me in 2002 when we got our 2 Dalmatians, lots of friends and family visiting for vacations (sunshine sure is nice here in California!) and I rediscovered my love of photography. A year later, with lots of photos, I decided I wanted something more than a photo album. So I walked back into that craft store, bought some scrapbook supplies and made my first layout. I discovered that scrapbooking encompasses lots of things I am passionate about: photography, art, design and journaling. From that moment, I knew I was hooked!

I guess for me the reasons to scrapbook are different as I don’t have children. So I have no scrapbooks to hand down to future generations, unless my nieces and nephews want them. I scrapbook because I love the creative release, sitting down at my table with paper, adhesives and photos and seeing the projects come together. I also scrapbook because it’s relaxing, some people read a book, or exercise, I shut myself away for 30 minutes and work on a layout. Whilst I had reasons to begin scrapbooking I continue to scrapbook simply because… I enjoy it.
