A Girl Can Dream Can’t She?
We always want to know what thoughts reside behind the deep eyes of a horse. On this particular day, we stopped to see a friendly horse in a pasture beside the road. This beautiful new friend was as interested in us as we were with him. When we got out of the car he rushed over to see us. He seemed to want us to pet him, talk with him and give us the pieces of “greener” grass that were just out of his reach on our side of the fence. It was such a blessing to have this encounter with such a delightful animal. Our time with this horse left us dreaming of the possibility of having more encounters with horses.
For this layout, I knew that I wanted to use a long title but I did not want to detract from the photo so I placed it inside the circles. I wanted the journal to have the effect of a line on the page. Therefore, I lined up each mini letter as precisely as I could. I doodled around all the edges of all of the elements on the layout because I think it helps tie all of the aspects of the page together.

Puppy Love
This is my niece and her dog Hayden. They were recently separated from each other due to a housing issue. Chrissy loves her dog and this was a hard thing for her. I wanted to celebrate their bond and also express the emotional context of this story in a deep way. I decided to use lots of layers and to make the page somewhat ornate and complicated, as life can certainly be. I am praying that she has the opportunity to have many pet relationships in the future.
