Photo corners have been around a long time, but have come a long way! They used to only be available in one size, limited colors and only made from paper. Now they are made in multiple sizes, colors and mediums - the sky is the limit! Whether you scrapbook with paper, metal, or acrylic - photo corners have something for all! The tip to using photo corners in a decorative way is to think outside the box.
The regular paper photo corners can be used in lots of ways. If the ones you have don’t match your layout, then think of ways in which you can change them: color them with marker pens, paint them or use art pens.
Another way to use photo corners is on the corners of anything, not just photos. Think about using them on cardstock or specialty papers like vellum. As you can see on the layout below they don’t have to even be on the corners!

One of the things I notice about photo corners is they look like arrows when lined up, and therefore can be a great embellishment to mimic movement. On the layout above I used them to add interest around the title. This would also be a great idea for a border!

Remember too that if your supplies are good for scrapbook layouts then they will do double duty for handmade cards too! Photo corners are no exception. They make fabulous accents for greeting cards. Next time you’re stuck for an embellishment, think about photo corners! Really, they aren’t just for photos anymore!
