I love working with acrylic products and you can find them everywhere now. They come in all sorts of fun shapes and there are so many things you can do with them. This is the first full book I have done with pictures of my baby Grayson, taken during a home photo shoot when he was two weeks old.

With this album, I painted the edges with craft paint (alternating colors on each page) to define and make them stand out. For the cover of my album, I chose to use parts of the cover from the Rusty Pickle coupon book. I just loved the plaid along the outer edge of the package, so I used that as part of the elements along the cover. I also used a plant tag that I had acquired at some point to incorporate into the title. For many of the quotes along the inside pages, I cut the quotes into individual words, then sanded/inked the edges to age. To soften my pictures, I used the “diffuse glow” filter in Photoshop. I also used craft paint or ink to distress the edges of the pictures. To adhere my papers and embellishments, I chose my scotch ATG gun which works perfectly with the acrylic.

For the internal pages of the album, using double-sided patterned paper reduces the amount of layering needed on the back side, as it allows the pattern to be seen through the other side of the acrylic. I also added a file folder between pages of the album to give it added character and space for journaling. To keep the file folder closed, I used a ribbon tied into a bow. Along the tabs, I chose to use rub-ons or acrylic stamps with permanent ink, which allow the images to be easily seen from both sides. I also did this throughout the book to serve as embellishments on both sides of various pages. To finish the mini-book and add a touch of frill, I tied a minimal amount of ribbons around binder rings.

My name is Kelly Cranfill and I live in the western part of North Carolina with my husband, puppies and three-month-old baby boy. I have always been creative and expressed that creativity in some way, shape or form. I technically started scrapbooking in high school, although I had no sense of style and literally just stuck things to paper and jotted down a few notes! I fell in love with the hobby again a few years later when my niece and nephew were younger and have been going full blast every since! In order to support my hobby, I spend my days teaching elementary school. I love working with the children and encourage my students to be more creative in their assignments!
