Chances are that if you are a scrapper you might be the family historian as well. If you are then you might be getting information from quite a few sources. You may also be getting conflicting facts from different relatives. Conflicting facts might not bother you... just pick the one you like best. Others, however, may really want things in the albums to be absolutely accurate.

A friend of mine, Ruth, is an historian and it shows in her albums. Not only can you read fantastic family stories, the sources are color-coded.

For example, if the words are quoted from a particular journal, throughout the albums, those quotes may be GREEN. If the source was oral family history, then those words may be written in BLUE. Stories that come from old letters may be in BROWN. Her own memories would be in yet another color.

If a story has two versions you might write each, but in different colors. Here is an example using one of my own family stories on a layout. The words in brown are my own recollection of family oral history. The words in purple are from my grandmother. The words in black are substantiated facts

Now start collecting precious family history... in the words of my daughter, "while you still can".
