Digital stamps, also called masks or transparencies, are a simple and beautiful way to add interest to the focal photo of your layout. They’re especially effective when placed above photos that have lots of open areas with little detail (“white space”).

I adore this vacation photo of my daughter taking some hesitant steps into the ocean! But the ocean colors were rather dull and I was having trouble finding the right papers. But the colors in the BasicGrey and Cosmo Cricket papers were perfect - they even had orange to match my daughter's suit! I love stitching on my layouts - both machine and by hand. The templates make the hand stitching process and breeze and it adds so much fun to your creations! I also tried a new technique by sewing a partial flower made out of twill! Trying new things is one of my favorite things about this hobby!

I just recently got into stamping. I held off the hobby for so long because I always felt stamps would be a waste of money. Stamps can run between $6 to $30 dollars, and I was not going to spend that much money on something that I felt I would only use once. What changed my mind? I stumbled across the website of Jennifer McGuire and fell in love with her work. I saw all the different techniques that were possible and was hooked. The creative possibilities with stamps are endless.

I loved the rich colors and intriguing designs of this kit and knew photos of our trip to the Turks & Caicos Islands would be perfect on these papers. The layout, particularly the title, was inspired by Jessica Sprague’s layout in Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking 3. I decided not to add drop shadows to the elements to give it a clean, contemporary look.
