I took an excellent class this past August with Jill Berry, a great instructor at Art Unraveled an artist retreat in Phoenix, Arizona. The name of the class was “In This Case”. We made several boxes and cases and I wanted to share this fun origami box with you. You may already know how to make one, if so you’re half way there.

Butterfly Box

Beginner Project

by Emily M. Miller

Jill’s box design has a neat beaded lid that opens easily. I changed it a little to make the handle a stamped Fantasy Film butterfly. This film is fantastic. It will change colors when heated and sparkles in the light. Very luminescent and magical!

I find myself lifting the lid by its wings and setting it back down over and over. I can’t leave it alone! You’ll want to make several for all your trinkets and gift giving. It’s pretty enough to display anywhere. You can even have a box making party. It’s so easy you can chat all you want and not make a mistake. Everyone will have a great time. Enjoy!

Like the paper for the origami bottom? Me too! It’s hand painted by Jill Berry. She gave us a sheet in our class, if you get the chance you have to take a class from her. Lots of benefits! Click above for her instructions on making this beautiful paper.
