One of the things that I love about scrapbooking with kits is not having to think about whether or not things go together. Someone else has done that work for me. I also love creating collage style layouts with lots of bits and pieces. So when I looked at the leftovers from my Studio Calico kit, I knew that with a little imagination something lovely could be created.

Ben & Matt

Intermediate Project

by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

I took scrips and scraps of leftover paper and collaged them into a square at the center of my cardstock. I even stitched down the cutaway strip from the bottom of the Sassafras paper (on the left edge of the layout). And since I had the embroidery thread out already, I decided to stitch in the gap between 2 pieces of patterned paper rather than fill them in with a scrap of paper. As for embellishments, I kept it simple and economical. I cut the flower shapes from a piece of Sassafras Lass patterned paper, covered them in Rock Candy Stickles (for some clear sparkle) and then used foam adhesive to stagger their heights.
