My family visited the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica which is known for its ideal surfing conditions. We booked a two-hour lesson with “Kiwi”, a New Zealander with an extraordinarily inspiring teaching style. My husband and daughter were up on the boards in no time, and I stood on the endlessly smooth beach taking nearly 400 photos of the experience. Club Scrap’s “Natural Resources” kit was the perfect backdrop for the photos, and the leaf image in the upper left corner looked just a bit like a trio of surfboards!

I still remember that when I took this picture at the market on our trip to Borobudur, seeing these birds there really touched me. And there was this one, that just stared back at me and also moving side to side with me (had to check if it was really looking at me and so I moved side to side and his eyes followed – so cute). What really touched me about this, was how it reminded me of myself at times, waiting for something to happen.

This layout was inspired by an Earth Day donation of a small pine tree to each of the children in my daughter's school. I thought it was so innocent and pure that she was given this little piece of life and she was so excited to protect it and care for it. So we took it out to the backyard right after she got off the school bus, found a safe spot for it, and she and her older brother planted it. Thank goodness the weather was good that spring because it got just the care it needed.
