This layout was created after capturing some of my favorite pictures of my daughter this fall. Because I loved her 10 month pictures so much, and I was proud of the photography I captured I wanted to display it in a unique and creative way. Plus, I couldn’t resist scrapping her sweet little face. Stitching was also a new technique I wanted to try. I pulled out my sewing machine and this was only the second layout I had ever stitched on. I now love stitching on layouts and cards!

Another fun part of this layout for me was the owls. I had been seeing all these cute owls, so I hunted through my stash and found some, they were stickers, but placing them on the branch made them appear 3-D(ish). I was happy to use my cute little friends! Lastly, I had so much fun thinking of a way to come up with branches. I ended up using the extra greenery from a small bouquet of flowers purchased at Walmart. I just snipped off the pieces with my scissors and was able to us them as branches. So, don’t throw your extras away; I have even used the leaves from these same bouquets to embellish. I had a blast creating this layout, and I hope my daughter treasures it always!

My name is Julie but most call me Jewels. My family and I currently reside in California where I grew up. I have been married to my best friend and college sweetheart, my wonderful Husband, Tu for five years. Tu and I met while playing sports and attending college in the Chicago area. We married after graduation and moved to California. Upon settling in Cali I became a high school teacher, mentor, and soccer coach, and was blessed to be able to work at the same school as my hubby. Currently, I am a stay at home mom of two precious gems, Tre, 2, and Aaliyah, 1, and one on the way. Spending time with Jesus, my family, and friends, being active in church, traveling, playing soccer, photography, crafting, and of course scrapbooking are all part of my life I find great joy in. I have enjoyed scrapbooking consistently for about five years. The last three years I have developed a real passion and love for scrapping and enjoy growing in my craft. I absolutely love the creative outlet and opportunity to preserve memories and leave a legacy for my children and their children. I am excited, blessed, proud, and honored to be part of the scrappy world and love meeting and scrappin with people! I would love to have you come by my blog at www.joy-n-jesus.blogspot.com.
