It’s time to put on your white lab coat and gear up the microscope because we are taking a closer look at experimenting with Glass Lab Slides. Science and scrapbooks are coming together, much to the amazement of many. These fascinating glass slides have a myriad of possibilities and uses. Under closer examination we can discover how well they fuse with commonly used elements of scrapbooking.
Glass Lab Slides are flat and a welcome element to those wishing to keep bulk at a minimum on their pages. They can be adapted to fit any style of page from juvenile to adult. The slides are thin and very flexible for those concerned about glass in their scrapbooks.
Using words in your scrapbook is about the hottest trend this year and displaying your words couldn’t be easier then sandwiching them between two glass lab slides. In the layout "Friendship," paper was crumpled and an inkpad was rubbed across to accentuate the crinkles. The paper was cut to the size of the lab slide and adhered to the bottom slide. The acetate words were glued to the top of the paper as well as the second slide using Diamond Glaze, which dries clear. Hemp was then tied around each one and placed on the page.
As any good lab technician knows, analysis and research are key when it comes to discovery. The layout "Cherish this Forever" was destined to benefit from good lab work. Using white cardstock as a foundation, add clear drying craft glue. Put a thick layer and then add dried flowers. Before allowing the glue to dry, attach your glass slide to the top of the dried flowers. After the glue dries you may put it on your page with eyelets and waxy flax.
In the laboratory you will find the microscope and the glass slide used to magnify the tiniest things. What better way to magnify the use of beads, wire and mesh? The combination adds the last touch to the layout "Passion for Puddles". Place your mesh in between your glass slides, use a double-side stick tape to keep mesh from moving around. String your tiny beads onto wire and then wrap around the glass slide.
You definitely don’t need to be a rocket scientist to experiment with glass lab slides. Let your scrap area become your laboratory and begin to explore what you can uncover using glass lab slides. Some other ideas you might find fun include embossing, fabric and photos. Your discoveries might not lead to the cure for the common cold but using glass lab slides gives you endless creative opportunities in your scrapbook pages.
