I decided to try my hand at a mini album to give as a Christmas gift. I used tags that have a front and back to allow room for journaling and photos. The mini album was a fun way to give the gift of scrapbooking to someone who is interested in trying this craft but does not know where to start.

This mini album was made with regular A6 envelopes, but you can really use any type. I like using envelopes that have already been mailed to make the project GREEN. I am so excited to share with you how to create one of these one-of-a-kind albums!

Crafting with Kids

Christmas Mini Album

Intermediate Project

By: DeAnna Glasscock

Supplies:
  • Adhesives: Scor-Tape (Scor-Pal Products)
  • Cardstock: Jingle Bells Christmas Collection (Recollections); misc. primary colors
  • Die cuts: Cricut cartridges - Joy to the Seasons, Once Upon a Princess, Winter Frolic (Provo Craft)
  • Embellishments: gems (dollar store)
  • Ribbons: misc. from dollar bin (Michaels)
  • Patterned paper: misc. embossed papers (Cuttlebug)
  • Punches: circle punch for the side holes, 1” circle for roof shingles
  • Stamps: Home for Christmas Collection (Cardz TV Stamps)
  • Tool: Cricut (Provo Craft)
  • Misc/Other: 12 envelopes
Instructions:

1. Punch two holes at either end of the envelopes. Cut the flaps off of most of them, but leave some on and seal them.

2. To decorate the front cover, cut out your castle peaks. Then, punch 1“circles in red and green and cut those in half to fill in the roof peaks.

3. When you have the whole roof peak completed, cut the excess off of the sides.

4. The flags are made from scraps and colored in with pencils.

5. The front doors are made by taking an 8½” sheet and cutting it lengthwise at 5”, then score that 2½” on either side. Dry emboss the paper and use brown ink to distress the paper a little.

6. Each page should be unique, using different elements. I did not go for a uniform look and like the whimsical look it gave the project. Make sure you add plenty of tags and open spaces to journal and add photos.

I have been crafting for years. I love going to my craft room and escaping from my everyday thoughts and chores. I will sometimes get up 15 minutes early just to work on something and start my workday with my love to create. I have started a blog to share my ideas, please visit me at http://deglasscockscreations.blogspot.com/
