I’m thankful for having found a new hobby in scrapbooking. Along with this hobby, I’ve found many wonderful friends and acquaintances that I wouldn’t otherwise have met. Scrapbooking for the last year has afforded me some much needed therapy away from stress and worries. It has made it possible for me to document wonderful moments, milestones and precious occasions in a visually appealing layout for my family to treasure. Thus, I would like to share the journaling on this page to give witness to my growth and progress in scrapbooking:

Colorful Creations (CC) had me started scrapbooking last Sept. 14, 2010 when Dee Armstead invited me to join. I’ve been enjoying the craft ever since starting with submitting layouts to CC, winning, to setting up my own scrapbooking blog, joining other scrapbooking sites, submitting to magazines for possible publication and to really having some of my layouts published.

My Scrappy Life

Intermedisate Project

By: Kathy Hernandez

Supplies:
  • Adhesives: All Purpose Glue Stick (Elmer’s)
  • Alphabet/Letters: Foam Alphabet Stickers (All About Scrapbooking)
  • Cardstock: 12x12 white (SEI)
  • Embellishments: flowers (Sassafras Lass)
  • Ink: pigment ink (All About Scrapbooking)
  • Pens: sign pen (Parker)
  • Ribbon: floral ribbon
  • Stickers: dimensional sticker (K&Company)
  • Other/Misc: inspiration sketch (Inspired Blueprints); construction paper (KYT Manufacturing Corp.)
Instructions:

1. Using a sketch by Inspired Blueprints and 3 snapshots, I decided to make use of the white or negative space on my layout.

2. First, I adhered the pink construction paper on my base white cardstock. This serves as the main color accent of my page.

3. Then, I positioned and adhered the (3) wallet sized photos slightly skewed for design.

4. Next, I positioned my embellishments with the wide floral ribbon beneath my photos first.

5. Next, I added my title using 3 different colors of letters to make my layout visually appealing.

6. I then positioned the flowers around my title, followed by adhering the dimensional sticker on the bottom left of the construction paper making sure to leave space for journaling.

7. Carefully jot down your journaling on the space provided.

8. Lastly, I dabbed various pastel colors of ink all around the white/negative space of the layout for added color.
