"A life richly blessed is one encircled by true friends." I don’t know who said those words, but I know how true they are. Sometimes we forget how much our friends mean to us. But every so often something happens to remind us how blessed we are by our friends.
These pictures show three little girls who are three very good little friends. Two are sisters, the other is their cousin. As young as they are, they realize that sometimes family makes the very best friends. It’s very easy to incorporate these black and white photographs into scrapbook pages for all skill levels.
In the first layout, the left-hand page couldn’t get much simpler. With a yellow cardstock background, all that’s left to do is trim a quarter inch around the patterned paper, mount it in the center and then add two large photographs. For the right-hand page, the bottom of the patterned paper is just torn. A photograph is attached to the top of the page, and a computer-journaled (or hand-written, if you prefer) journaling square is attached beneath. Easy and simple!
For the intermediate page, things are taken a step further. The two photographs are now matted with yellow cardstock before attaching to the left page. Three flower buttons are attached with glue dots at the bottom. (Here’s a time-saving hint - instead of tying floss through the buttons, just use a black pen to write a stitch.) For the right page, the focal photo is double-matted on yellow and black cardstock. A strip of yellow cardstock is then mounted behind the photo for added emphasis. The edges of the journaling square are brushed with black ink and two flower buttons are added to the corner.
For the advanced layout, it’s time to bring out the sewing machine and some ribbon. Using a metal square from 7 Gypsies, thread two pieces of polka-dot ribbon through each end and sew each end together so the ribbon holds the square (Another time-saving hint - don’t worry about switching the white thread in your sewing machine. Just use a black pen to color the thread so it matches your ribbon). Attach an acetate word to a white cardstock square on your layout, and then lay the metal square and ribbon over it. For the right page, add a half-dozen or so acetate words, leaving some at different angles to add visual interest.
And there you have three different levels to a scrapbook layout that celebrates one of life’s greatest gifts - good friends!
