Scanning and Stitching a 12" x 12" Layout (Part 2) See which programs work and which don't when stitching scanned layouts together. Cutting Negative Space for Titles and Frames There are techniques that seem to pop up several places at the same time. This is one of them. About the same time there was a discussion about this look on a scrapbooking list to which I belong, I noticed this frame at my hairdressers. Cropping Photos for Fun and Design Probably the first time you cropped a photo in a creative way, you cut around a desired subject to eliminate a distracting background. It probably looked like this… When is a Title More than a Title? (Part 1) When we are on vacation it seems that we often pose a photo by a sign that identifies a particular feature of the trip. As scrappers we can take this a step further by using elements of such a photo as the title for our page. When is a Title More than a Title? (Part 2) There were only two photos to use for this layout and none of them identified the club we had visited. Again, thinking like a scrapper, I saved one of the paper hand towels from the lavatory because it had the club logo on it. When is a Title More than a Title? (Part 3) As I entered the elementary school the day of the program, I noticed a sign on the wall with all of the information about the musical and snapped it trying to fill the frame of the photo with the sign. When is a Title More than a Title? (Part 4) Sometimes the sign at a destination can drive the design of the whole page. The sign on The Children's Museum in Ann Arbor, Michigan had such a colorful design that I just had to copy it for the layout title and elements on the page. Scrapping Scrapbooking Events Whenever it was, your first scrapbooking event probably included cameras. It seems that whenever scrapbookers gather there are almost as many cameras as scrapbookers. School Activities - Week 1 You want to be involved in your children's schooling but not sure how? Become the classroom photographer! Even the most experienced teacher cannot concentrate on the responsibilities of the class AND take photographs, too. School Activities - Week 2 If you want to become involved in a classroom as a photographer, suggest to the teacher that you will come in one of those first days of school and take a photo of each child. Request that the parents keep track of the Back-To-School new outfit to wear again on one of the last days in June when you photograph again.. School Activities - Week 3 The classroom teacher may be having a struggle creating new bulletin boards each month. Why not offer to create a bulletin board of the layouts you have been creating. Photos Without People Many years ago I read a little article in Readers’ Digest about creating a positive outlook for yourself. The original suggestion was to keep a 5-year diary and each night write about one beautiful thing you saw that day. I actually did that for a while. I still notice small beautiful things, a deer-track in the snow that everyone else walks by, etc., but now I am more likely to use my camera to record small beautiful things.
