Altered Journals -- Article One of my favorite paper crafts, second to cardmaking, is altering journals. Whether for myself, a family member or a friend, a handmade or decorated journal is ideal for writing notes, to-do lists, goals or one’s innermost secrets. I also think back to school days when I'd cover books with paper or fabric, or doodle on the covers (and look how big doodling on scrapbook pages is now!). All these things lead us back to a book, a pen and a way to express ourselves. Personally, I've been journaling since I was about 8 when I was given a five-year diary as a gift. It was something so simple yet it sparked in me a creative need to jot down my thoughts at the end of each day.

Adhesives 101 -- Article Pop into any scrapbooking or craft store and you’ll see the adhesives aisle - a whole row dedicated just to sticking your projects together. No matter what that project should be, there is no doubt a specialized adhesive for it. For a beginner to scrapbooking, browsing the scrapbooking aisles can be daunting enough, but then to be confronted with more options of how to actually stick the pages together, well it’s enough to send you screaming to the hills! One of the main reasons for scrapbooking is displaying photos in an aesthetically pleasing way. As such, it’s important to remember to use archival-safe adhesives that are acid free and therefore photo safe! With all that said, I thought I’d share some of my favorite adhesive, tips and tricks.

Spring Into A Garden -- Article What are some of the things that come to mind when you think of spring: birdsong, butter yellow afternoons, trees in bud, pastels, soft scents, bunnies and chicks. Altered 12-Photo Timepiece -- Article I have a passion for scrapbooking. Why? I like to think that it all stems from a love of family and friends, and preserving the memories all of us make together on our journey through life. Before I became sucked into this very addictive hobby, all the moments of my life that had been captured on film sat in a shoebox in a closet someplace gathering dust and I think that is probably true for a lot of us. Scrapbooking encouraged me to take the step to get the photos out, organize them and start documenting my memories in my scrapbooks.
Ornament Shaker Box -- Article I’ve always wanted to create my own shaker boxes for sometime now. It’s quite easy to create your own shaker boxes. There are ready made templates for shaker boxes sold in some scrapbooking stores but I’ve created this ornament shaker box from scratch.
Have Apron, Will Cook -- Article Every holiday we can count on Grandma to fill the kitchen and our stomachs with good food. Gulping down her homemade biscuits, tender turkey, and pumpkin pie makes every holiday complete. My stomach is growling just thinking about it! Altered Deck of Cards -- Article We don’t often talk about double-sided tape in the scrapbook world but it’s not as taboo as you think if you know which to use. I thought it would be a fun idea to alter a deck of cards as a celebration of women and create a card box using cardstock and double-sided tape. I started with important women as my theme then just continued with women stamps, but you could create cards for family, friends or whoever you want.

Do you ever contemplate how many ways you can use a product before you buy it? I want to know if the product or stamp is really worth the money. Adhesives: Photo Corners -- Article “You know those sticky paper things you put on pictures, what are they called?” “Those fancy papers you stick on photos would make this project look great!” How many times have I heard these and other references to a well known and often misunderstood adhesive embellishment? What I’m talking about are photo corners. It’s no surprise people don’t know what these are called because no one talks about them.

Rarely do I ever use just one kind of adhesive to complete a layout. Adhesives: Removable Adhesives -- Article How many times have you started a layout and didn’t have the time to complete it in one sitting and when you got back to it somehow it magically was moved around? Or, you stuck down a photo and it just wasn’t where you wanted it but it was too late because it was already stuck? There is hope for all these woes and the answer is…removable adhesives!
Adhesives: Dimensional Adhesives -- Article I have to admit, even though I am all grown up I still love things in 3-D. Yes, that includes the quirky 3-D movies and glasses. But, what I really like is adding dimension to my scrapbook layouts. I can take basically any embellishment, sticker, or letter, add a few pieces of dimensional adhesives and poof, I have instant height and interest on my layout.
Adhesives: Adhesive Pens -- Article You know that summer project list you’ve created? Have you put any of it off already because you don’t want to deal with the sticky clean up? Your answer may be found in a little adhesive pen that takes the mess out of creating projects with sticky clumps of glue.
Adhesives: Vellum Adhesives Part 2 -- Article Last month, we discovered the magic of using vellum adhesives in your scrapbook projects. After many of you read the article, I was glad to hear that I was not the only one struggling with getting my vellum to stick without seeing the adhesive. These new adhesives are so amazing I wanted to share with you two new projects that use vellum in different ways with the vellum adhesives.
Adhesives: Stuck on Vellum -- Article If you haven’t had a chance to work with vellum, now is the time to give it a try. Vellum is great to work with not only for its delicate texture but also its versatility. You can tear it to add dimension or print on it for an elegant look. However, vellum’s smooth, sheer nature that makes it beautiful also makes it frustrating to attach to a layout. I run into the problem of getting my vellum to stick without seeing that annoying trace of adhesive through my work. Fortunately, there are now adhesive products made specifically for attaching vellum without leaving the tell-tale marks of sticky tapes.
Adhesives: No Mess! -- Article Have you ever tried to attach itty bitty letters and other die cuts to a scrapbook layout without getting either the adhesive or the die cuts stuck somewhere other than your paper? You can use tweezers or a craft knife, but if time is an issue for you, there may be another answer.
Stick to It! -- Article Do you want tips on how to use all of those adhesives sticking around out there? I know I do when it comes to adhering vellum, using foam squares, and, the big one, getting those metal embellishments to stay stuck! Our adhesive department will provide you practical tips and ideas to learn not only what adhesives are available but how you can choose different ones for real layouts.
