Find a store near you! Printable Project Card
Beginner — Mask random words on a page to create a phrase or sentence.
Supplies
  • Hardback Book (Artist’s Own)
  • Foam Brushes (Artist’s Own)
  • Soft Matte Gel Medium (Golden)
  • Sticky Notes (Staples)
  • Scissors (Fiskars)
  • Sea Sponge (Artist’s Own)
  • Metallic Olive Green Lumiere Acrylic Paint (Jacquard)
  • Flat-ended Tweezers (American Science & Surplus)
  • Hot Colors Collage Sheet (Tuscan Rose)
  • Platinum Stickles (Ranger)
  • Butterscotch Adirondack Acrylic Paint (Ranger)
  • Glittering Gold Scribbles 3-Dimensional Paint (Duncan)
Instructions

1. Choose a page spread based on the words contained therein. Try to create a sentence or a phrase using random words sprinkled throughout the facing pages.

2. Reinforce the pages: Use gel medum to glue the the right page to 2-3 pages behind. Do the same for the left page of the spread.

3. Trim pieces of sticky notes to use as masks for the words and cover the chosen words.

4. Carefully sponge paint to cover the pages; don’t let the masks move! Use thin layers of paint so the pages will dry quickly, but try to obliterate most of the text.

5. When the pages are partially dry, use tweezers to remove the masks.

6. Use gel medium to adhere clip art to page.

7. Use platinum glitter glue to draw wavy patter across top and bottom of pages. Make dots in the peaks and valleys of the waves, as shown, with butterscotch paint.

8. Draw a crown on the clip art lady using gold glitter glue. Accent with dots of platinum and butterscotch.
