Instructions
Use glue stick unless otherwise noted
1. Fold the spine of the flag book - Hold the tan cardstock strip so it is horizontal. Starting at the mid-point of the strip, score a valley fold. On both sides of the first score line alternate mountain and valley score lines 3 times at .75 intervals (ending with a valley fold). The extra at each end will be hidden under the lining of the covers. You will have SIX mountains in the finished spine. Notes for the Scor-It Board: Follow manufacturer’s instructions to create accordion - mountain and valley - folds. The INSIDE of each fold is facing UP during the scoring process.
2. Create the covers - Glue patterned paper on the front and back covers, miter at the corners and wrap over the edges of the postcard to the reverse side approximately half an inch. Glue the first end of the spine to the inside of the front cover, close to the right edge, the other end to the inside of the back cover, close to the left edge. Line the inside of the covers with patterned paper, cut to fit. These lining pieces will hide the tan card stock at each end of the spine.
3. Create the pages - Glue recipe cards, back to back, along the accordion folds of the spine as shown. Alternate cards positioned high on the folds of the spine with cards positioned lower on the spine.
4. Decorate the book:
*Punch six tags from red cardstock.
*Cut out all twelve of the decorative corners on the cardstock sheet in the Cookbookin’ kit. Use the corners to hold the six red tags in place, creating tabs on the recipe cards.
*Add frames, card stock border, and stickers to the covers as shown.
*Glue three small bows and two buttons to the covers using Kids Choice to attach the bows, GemTac to attach the buttons.
*Use the White Souffle pen to add decorative touches to the covers and to write recipe names on the red tabs.
*Use blue Gelly Roll pen to write on the pear cutout on the inside back cover.
5. Options:
*For longer recipes, staple several recipe cards together along the edge to create a mini booklet with the last page only glued onto the spine of the book. Important note: With this method, some cards would be stapled at the left to make a booklet, some would be stapled at the right - and you will need more red tabs (one tab will not work for two recipes unless the cards are glued back to back).
*Add journaling, memorabilia, and/or photos.
