Keep The Guilt in the Drawer Square One by Judi Kauffman |

Beginner - Select a Finished In A Flash kit that has papers in colors which coordinate with the photo. The kit I chose is called “Theme Park” - a topic that would seem to have nothing to do with my layout. I picked it because of the bright primary colors, all purpose pattern papers like polka dots and stripes, tags, thought balloons, and word blocks that were a good fit. I set aside the theme park-specific papers and embellishments.

Instructions
1. Take a picture of un-developed rolls of film, a box of photos, memorabilia, or anything else that is the stumbling block standing between you and your first scrapbook page. Print the photo.
2. Refer to the manufacturer’s suggestions on your Finished In A Flast kit and my page to help you design your first layout. Keep it very simple: A single photo, a border, headline, tags, plus a bit of journaling. As I’ve suggested in previous installments of Square One, move things around - Don’t glue anything in place till you’re pleased with the arrangement.
4. Set aside the unused portion of the kit for other layouts or use the supplies for cards, tags, or other paper crafts.
Tip: In order to print the journaling blocks, date and headline on the green paper from the Theme Park Finished In A Flash kit, I cut the 12 x 12 sheet down to 8.5 x 11 so it would fit in my computer printer. I printed a couple of test sheets on plain white computer paper first so I could decide on the point size and orientation of the words. As shown, everything is centered to create long vertical text blocks.
