Fourth of July
Family Fun by Jean Marmo
Find a store near you! Printable Project Card
Fourth of July is a special time at out cottage in northern Michigan. My sisters and their families come to the lake for a day of food, fun and fireworks. We always go to the library book sale and spend time fishing. In between there is always time for the annual photo shoot. This photo highlights me, my sisters and our husbands.
Supplies
  • Cardstock: red (Bazzill Basics), off white
  • Bandana
  • Die cuts: Halfway Café (Cosmo Cricket)
  • Lace
  • Paint: acrylic red, cream and blue (Crafter’s Edition)
  • Patterned Paper: Halfway Café Kingman (Cosmo Cricket)
  • Sewing machine
  • Star: gold
  • Transparency
  • Wood shapes
Instructions

1. Print photo in black and white on cardstock. Tear the edges and ink. Stitch across top edge.

2. Using pinking shears cut a rectangle to mat the photo from an old bandana. Stitch along the top.

3. Gather lace.

4. Paint wood star shapes. Use smudges of other colors on each to give a distressed look.

5. Cut a piece of red lace to fit across the mat at the bottom.

6. Punch out tag, swirls, and letter “F” die cuts.

7. Cut transparency and brush with a layer of paint.

8. Using a fin tip pen, scratch words onto the transparency.

9. Cut smaller strips from the bandana to tie on stars and on tags.

10. Affix items to the layout.

Scrapbooking has changed dramatically since I completed the first album for my daughter in 1993. My children are now grown (19 and 24) but I continue to scrap for them as much as possible. I love trying new techniques and using non- traditional materials.

Note: All of the images on scrapbooking.com can be clicked on and one of two things will happen. Either a detailed page about the layout will be displayed or a more detailed version of the picture will appear
