Surf's Up
Die Cuts by Hailey Jackson
Find a store near you! Printable Project Card
This is a great layout for beginners! If you are new to using die cuts or just pulled your Sizzix out of the box, get ready for an easy way to make a fun layout.
Supplies
  • Personal Die Cut Machine (Sizzix)
  • Wave Die Cut (Sizzix)
  • Fun Serif Uppercase Alphabet Die Cuts (Sizzix)
  • Various Cardstocks (Paper Reflections, Making Memories)
  • Adhesive (Sailor Glue Pen, Creative Memories Tape Runner)
  • Blue Pen (Zig Writer, EK Success)
Instructions

-First I matched cardstock colors to the colors in the photos I had, mostly teals and blues.
-Next I used the Sizzix to cut about 5 wave die cuts in each of three colors, teal, dark teal, and navy blue.
-I used adhesive to put together strips of waves and then layered the strips.
-I then mounted the entire border to the bottom of the page.
-The dark teal was the most noticeable color on the wave in the photograph, so I cropped the photos, cutting around the wave, and mounted them on the dark teal cardstock. I then cut around the photo leaving about a 1/4 inch border.
-To create the journaling box I mounted two wave die cuts to the back of a navy blue piece of cardstock.
-To make the title topper I used the uppercase Fun Serif alphabet from Sizzix. I cut a set in the teal and dark teal and created a shadow look so that the teal did not blend to much into the blue paper.
-I used a sailor glue pen to affix the letters, and created water drops from the inside of the "R" die cut.
-A blue Zig Writer was used to color a blue wave pattern over the letters, thus completing the layout.
