Ice Storm 1998
Weather by Joan Fowler
Find a store near you! Printable Project Card
This is a winter layout incorporating vellum, VersaMark ink and wet embossing technique.
Supplies
  • Patterned Paper (Glad Tidings)
  • Plain and Patterned Vellum (Paper Adventures)
  • Self-Adhering Green Vellum (Bravissimo)
  • Times New Roman, Arial Computer Fonts
  • Metal Frame (Making Memories)
  • Clear ColorBox Top Boss Embossing Pad (Clearsnap)
  • Clear Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel by Suze Weinberg (Ranger)
  • VersaMark Watermark Ink (Tsukineko)
Instructions

1. Draw pattern for icicles from plain paper and cut from one piece of vellum the width of your page.

2. In sections, apply embossing pad to "icicles". Cover with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel and remove excess powder. Heat with heat gun until dissolved. Continue until all "icicles" are covered and have a shiny, slightly bumpy finish. A simpler version of "icicles" can be achieved by using just the vellum without the covering of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.

3. Size patterned paper to allow a ¼ inch border when attached to the background cardstock.

4. To compose journaling in columns in MS Word, click "Format" on the menu and select "Columns". Choose three columns. Move side measures to ensure that the journaling prints to the bottom of the page, ¾ in. margin from side and bottom of page. As you type, the journaling will automatically shift to the next column when the bottom margin is reached. It is important that you align the margins to ensure that each column is of equal length and center justified. Print to background paper.

5. Attach patterned paper to cardstock.

6. Rip patterned vellum paper to a width of about 3 ½ inches and a 12-inch length. Attach strip horizontally on left side, vertically on right side.

7. Mat and attach photos as shown.

8. Frame mini-portrait with metal frame and attach with glue dots to the patterned vellum strip.

9. Attach "icicles" across top of patterned paper.

10. Title was printed on reverse side of silver vellum (ICE STORM) and green vellum (1998). Cut and attach as shown.
