Instructions
1. Adhere 8" x 8½" Corrugated Kraft paper 2" from bottom edge of background paper.
2. Cut red embossed paper to measure 6½" x 6½". Adhere larger ½" from upper edge.
3. Adhere black script paper measuring 3" x 11", ¾" from bottom edge.
4. Compose journalling (MS Times New Roman) to fit 4" x 1¼" area on tag.
5. Tie with jute twine and attach to left side of layout.
6. Enlarge focal point photo to 5" x 7". Adhere to left side of layout such that it overlaps the corrugated paper by 1".
7. Snowflake E. If it is easier to trace pattern onto shrink plastic before cutting, use white colored pencil on rough side of sheet. Lead pencil will smudge and a black pencil will show up on translucent plastic.
8. Cut 5 each of pattern F, G, H and D.
9. Heart. Cut one and use heart punch for interior heart shape.
10. To shrink the shapes, you will need the heat gun and the small card box, lined with the heat mat. The box keeps the piece contained during the heating process and the mat prevents burning and sticking.
11. Pre-heat gun for about 30 seconds.
12. Working with one piece at a time, place each shape in card box. Direct heat gun at shape and continue heating until shape shrinks and flattens. The piece will curl and twist as it shrinks, so don’t panic. With such small pieces, it is best to anchor the piece by holding it down with the point of a pair of tweezers, otherwise you might be chasing it around the room.
13. Once the piece has shrunk, immediately cover with a flat wood block or acrylic block or even a book if nothing else is available and press down. This helps to flatten the piece as it cools. You can always reheat if the piece is not perfect! .
14. To color the heart, apply pigment ink direct to piece. (You can also color with pencils or chalk before the heating process. Just remember that the color will intensify as it shrinks.)
15. While ink is still wet, cover with UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). Shake off excess and heat. The first coat will produce a mottled finish. Repeat this process two more times to get a shiny finish.
16. Assemble snowflake as shown and adhere snowflake and heart with Mini Gluedots.
17. Title. On computer, insert Word Art, choose outline (upper left), Times New Roman, type upper case "Flowers".
