Instructions
1. Mix a medium-dark solution of walnut ink and use a paper towel to sponge it all over the maroon paper. Wait for it to completely dry before using. Rub a brown stamp ink pad around the edges of the paper.
2. Tear a strip of paper from each of the other papers, the beige crackle, the beige striped and the light blue patterned. They should each be 12" wide to stretch across the entire layout and be straight on three sides.
3. Rub the edges of each of the torn strips with brown stamp ink as well as with brown chalk to give the edges a dirty look.
4. Layer the torn strips and adhere them to the bottom of the maroon paper.
5. Trim a piece of Maruyama to mat a 5" x 7" photo. Adhere the matted photo to the bottom left corner of the layout. Bend over the top right corner of the Maruyama over the photo and secure with a pewter flower eyelet.
6. Trim a scenery photo to 7" x 4" and adhere to the top right corner of the layout.
7. Trim another photo to 3" x 5½" and tuck the bottom of it into the layers of torn paper on the middle right side of the layout.
8. Trim a piece of leaf transparency to 3½" x 2½" and adhere it with vellum tape on top of the torn layers of paper on the bottom right side of the layout.
9. Trim a piece of leaf transparency to 4" x 1 ½" and adhere it with vellum tape just above the large focal photo, tucking the right edge under the scenery photo.
10. Using black script alphabet stickers, spell out the word "Desert" just above the transparency.
11. Using the teal stone alphabet letters, spell out the word "discovery" just under the word "desert" and on top of the leaf transparency and the scenery photo.
