My daughter was heading for Botswana Africa with a YOUTH ministry called Teen Mania. Her tour of duty would be 28days and it would begin in Garden Valley Tx for 3days of training.I decided that I would escort her to her training in Texas. It would serve two purposes; first to get her there safely and second to photograph and later scrapbook the event. The campus was located in the countryside so the location was both charming and peaceful. As we approached the entrance we were stunned by the impressive red brick entrance with the large brass letters of TEEN MANIA MINISTRIES. I felt like the cat who ate the canary. I knew this was going to be fun. I was also testing my new Canon Elph Z3 as I did not want to drag my big Minolta with its huge 28/300 lens around. I had finally broken down and bought a small camera. The campus had many photographic opportunities. Our favorite were the beautiful lamposts that lined the sidewalks and all with flags attached. These lovely flags represented the various Teen Mania countries all over the world. We chose the Botswana flag as it was the country my daughter was travelling to. I got many terrific shots in the 2 days I was there of all the pertinent venues like the activity center, the auditorium, the big white tent and the 20 or so port-o-potties, the swimming pool and all the lovely red brick administration and dormitories. AA in all it was a fun event that also gave friends and family a good visual of the Ministry Campus where our daughters next adventure had begun.
