Some of the best pages come from the great pictures we take of our babies and toddlers experiencing new and unfamiliar things. With all the new embellishments and techniques out there, there are bound to be some really unique layouts. Laura and I crop together a lot. Sometimes, we just sit looking at each other talking about what an "idea block" we are having. What?? Can't think of an idea for a page?! With all those choices out there? Sounds crazy I know. But sometimes we get overwhelmed with all that's out there and want to just go back to the basics. Laura and I have found that the best way to get out of a creative block is to do just that… Go back to the basics! After a few of these kinds of layouts, your ideas will flow again. In this first layout, Laura handmade the box and chalked it to add dimension. Of course we love those customizable dolls!
In this really great layout Laura did, she used a new favorite product of hers, Shimmer Sheetz. They are Mylar papers used for scrapbooking. In this one she used it for the flames. Then she used a fire hydrant sticker and attached it to fiber for the hose. Look close; see the water coming out of the hose? She used vellum for that. How cute!
In "Cody's First Bike Ride," I pulled the colors from the pictures and just did basic color blocking with a wavy pattern to do this layout. I added a hand cut tag with raffia for journaling. Simple, but cute.
Finally, in "Sit...Helicopter," Laura used an appliqué that actually had fallen off of one of her son's outfits. She kept it thinking, "you never know," and here was the perfect layout for it.
We hope you enjoyed these layouts we did for you, and hope it helped if you find yourself in an "idea block!"
