My husband, Ed, retired from the United States Marine Corps after 25+ years of service. He enlisted at 18 and became a Warrant Officer when he was 32. A Warrant Officer is different from a "regular" officer in that they are prior enlisted and have become a specialist in whatever field they are in. His retirement day was a wonderful day.

The Unit he was a part of gave him a royal send off. We invited lots of friends and gave all the little
children flags when they arrived. There was a color guard and Ed received a Navy Achievement Medal, one of the highest medals given out in USMC. We were, and are, so proud of his service to his country. That is why I entitled the pages "The Proud Are One Fewer!" I wanted to keep the pages alike and in keeping with the colors of the day, i.e., khaki, red, white and blue.
