Most of my scrapping friends and I have been told by others, "Oh, I would love to make scrapbooks, but I don't have any children."

This series of articles is meant to encourage those who have no children in the family, or those who have neglected the adult part of their lives for too long. Although we have had no babies in my family for 22 years, we do have 4 avid scrapbookers. I will be sharing some of our scrapbook layout topics with you this year.

January - Hobbies, Collections, Interests, and Pursuits

We are all used to grabbing that camera for unusual sights, special days and vacations. What about the everyday activities? I would treasure a photo... just ONE... of my mother at her sewing machine or my dad in his workshop! Sadly, no one ever thought to take a picture of any of my ancestors doing something every-day, either. I know one grandfather read avidly and I remember the other one doing crossword puzzles by the hour. My grandmothers, too, had wonderful activities of fancy embroidery cooking. Where are those photos? Here is the only layout using the only photo I have of my father's hobby. Notice, HE isn't in there anywhere. I also have no photos of the wonderful things he made; my bedroom set, my dollhouse, my wee workbench, my doll dish cupboard. We still have a pedal-car he made for my son and a baby cradle he made for grandchildren. Photos WILL be taken of those things.

For the rest of this month I will share some layouts of hobbies, collections, pastimes and pursuits. I hope they will encourage you to look at photos of those things in your lives. Even if you DO have children, they will want to know those parts of you one day. Then share those layouts with us. We would love to see your Hobby, Pastimes, Collection and Pursuit Layouts. Email them to BNagle@shopA-Z.com.

Also, if you have any further questions about this article, you can go to our Bulletin Board and discuss scrapping for adults or go to the Article Comments Forum and I will personally answer your questions.

Part 1 - Interests

HUNTING
In our family, yearly Boar and Deer Hunting trip are an occasions. The hunters actually took the photos I used in the next few layouts. The first two layouts are for the family album.

These next layouts are for a small album I made that the guys can take to work with them. It fits nicely into a lunchbox or briefcase. The fellows did not want "a lot of fancy stuff" so I did the layouts in a simple, non-matted style. The album is a 8.5" X 6.5" 3-ring album. C-Line Products makes top-loading page protectors for these albums. There are NO photos of dead animals, so look at the layouts without concern.
