I'll admit, I want to be among the first to know what's new in the scrapbooking industry. Scrapbooking companies have been knocking themselves out to design new products to satisfy all our scrapbooking "needs." There are so many new products out there, so I can only share with you a small sampling of my favorites.
Probably my all time favorite is not something that is brand new to the scrapbooking market; but is something that is catching a lot of popularity. Lasercuts! I love them because they are much more detailed than a regular die-cut. The possibilities are endless; as lasercut companies have been designing products to meet almost every scrappers need! My Larry the Lobster page was used with a Deluxe Cut Lobster lasercut. I used metallic rub-ons to accentuate the lasercut.
Metallic Rub-Ons by Craf-T are another one of my favorites that is gaining popularity among scrapbookers. Watch out, because they can be messy! Make sure you have a sink nearby to wash your hands or a baby wipe on hand. They come in a variety of metallic colors; bronze, brown, silvers, green, and golds. I used the rub-ons on the lobster, journaling block and picture frame.
Buttons have been all the rage for quite some time. On my San Diego Zoo pages I used Zoo buttons from JHB International. JHB International buttons can be found in any craft store; they are used by all kinds of crafters. Now they have a new line of products, Memento's, just for us scrapbookers! Memento's are cards of 6 buttons, with each card having a certain theme. Now you don't have to waste any time matching buttons!
My friend and fellow Scrapbooking.Com designer Charlene McClung created some adorable pages with more buttons from JHB. Notice the leather used on the Bear Warrior layout. She took real leather, chalked it, and added the JHB butttons; making great accents for the pages.
Another new and innovative product is the Sheet Horn by C-Line Products. "A what?" you ask? The sheet horn is a product to help those that are having trouble fitting their embellished pages in their top loading page protectors. Simply insert the sheet horn into the page protector. Next slip your page into the sheet horn and it slides easily into the page protector. Your page is kept safe and free from wrinkling or bending. Another necessary tool for every scrapbooker is a Color Wheel; especially if you are color impaired like me. The Color Wheel Company has come to our rescue with an easy to use and very handy color wheel. According to their website www.colorwheelco.com the Color Wheel "Teaches color relationships by organizing colors in a circle so you can visualize how they relate to each other." Use it to pick coordinating colors for your layout and make creating just a little bit easier.
I hope that I've been able to share something new with you. Check back in the March issue for another article sharing all the newest products this year!
