The holidays are over and the decorations are down. The children are either back at school or already destroying their presents (or both!). We have spent so much time preparing for the holidays, making everything perfect for our friends and family because it feels so good to make this time special. Now, it’s January. The house is quiet (well, maybe…) its too cold outside to take the lights down so they will stay put until it warms up. We’re wandering around the house trying to decide what should be cleaned for the second time today, is that Barney again? Should we really bake even more cookies?

Well, here’s a thought, why stop giving? Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean the gift of giving has to stop, and I’m not talking about birthdays! We’ve been so busy this past month that we’ve not gotten our rubber stamps out since we made our Christmas cards! Well, its time to start thumping again! Get those stamps out, get the shaving cream and your re-inkers, get the stamp pads and prepare to make a MESS!

I propose a challenge to you, make a winter card or a small gift and mail it to a friend, or friends! Just surprise them! You will have so much fun creating the cards why not include a small handmade gift, a set of stationery cards, a notepad or both! I guarantee the smile on your face after you’ve mailed it will warm your heart as well as everyone you come in contact with. Just imagine the smile on the face of your friend when they go to their mailbox.

I’ve been working with a very good friend of mine to create some samples of what I’m describing. Please welcome Ramie to the new PapercraftingMagazine.com design team! We’ve chosen winter scenes, snowmen for our January beat the blahs pick me up, and I hope you enjoy them as much as we did creating them. We made cards and we used the stationery card-tainer made by Papers by Catherine. Also you’ll see some matching notepads to go with the stationery sets. We used simple techniques to the more messy techniques with shaving cream (can we just say fun???). These are simple, easy designs that are sure to make some ones day…. could it be you?

Rubber hugs,

Dawn Heath
