Cards that are centered on snowmen can be created simply or lavishly, and setting a mood or theme for your card is as basic as your choice of paper and embellishments.
The card seen above conveys a patriotic theme in its use of red, white and blue cardstock and papers. Adding a touch of silver and some gold stars for embellishment, the stamped image entitled "And to the Snowman" becomes completely All American!
If you’re more of a down home, country style person, the next card might be what you’re looking for. I sew and cross stitch as well as quilt; I raided my craft and sewing supplies to create a homespun mood around this image. Fabric scraps and rick rack trim that were left to me by my grandma were used as embellishment, making this card a sentimental one to create. Similar trims and buttons may be found in thrift stores or fabric marts. Bright colors and homey touches add warmth to any snowman greeting!
If it’s glitz and glamour that you prefer, the color scheme of black and white can’t go wrong. In the winter, we see the black lace of empty tree branches against a white field of snow. Touched with the silver of ice crystals, this scheme is one straight from nature.
Add fibers and silver charms for extra cool sparkle and shine!
My end table holds a small Christmas tree that is decorated with snowmen ornaments.
I am always in search of new ways to decorate this tree without spending a lot of money.
This handmade ornament was made entirely from recycled materials! The base is an empty spool of holiday ribbon which lent its shape perfectly to the stamped images used to make it. I used scraps of white cardstock, a bit of glitter, and a scrap of silver ribbon for a hanger; the entire ornament cost me less than a quarter to make, yet it will look fantastic hanging from an evergreen branch.
If you’re like me, all of your friends are "a little bit flaky"...share your love of snowmen with them this winter and keep warm stamping!
