The Sizzix Primitive Hearts Die-Cutter cuts a perfect heart every time. The die cuts were the primary focus of each project described in the following paragraphs. If there is one thing I learned from preparing the samples, it is to never underestimate the power and versatility of a simple heart.
This first project, “Woven Hearts,” is actually quite easy to complete once you have finished the paper weaving. Because the hearts are small, the weaving strips should be narrow. Weaving a few fibers along with the paper provides added dimension. After the paper is woven, glue it to lightweight copy paper or cardstock to keep the weaving strips in place once the hearts are cut. After cutting, be sure to check the papers’ ends and glue any that may be loose.
Hearts are naturally versatile, but combining them with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel produces the ”wow” factor. Take a look at “Passion Tag.” It looks as if the Gold Embossing Enamel is still flowing. Its movement does not seem to stop once the embossing enamel cools. The tag can be used as a gift tag or as an embellishment for a card or altered book.
If you never throw away scraps when stamping, you will love making the card “The Negative and the Positive.” Adjust your cut paper to cover only one of the hearts on the die-cutter. The cut portion, or the negative part, is stamped and used to hold the heart. Background paper peeks through the opening.
The “Chosen Heart” may hide your messages of love and romance but the lucky person who receives the card will know exactly how you feel when each heart is removed and your message on the back is read.
What else can you do with these little hearts? Die cut shrink plastic to make heart charms, decorate altered books or gift bags, cut hearts from decorative paper and tuck them into your spouse’s or children’s lunch bag to let them know you are thinking of them or cut several from all those little pieces of paper you have been saving and use them on your Valentine’s Day cards for friends.
