Tim Holtz is known for his innovative and easy to do projects with Ranger’s exciting products. Tim was recently at the ARTS (Artstamp Retailer Trade Show) Show in Chicago, IL, and he allowed me to photograph a fun pendant project he created with the Adirondack Alcohol Inks and a Tim Holtz One Hole Circlez™. Thanks, Tim, for taking time with me.

Marerials:
  • Adirondack Alcohol Inks in Various Colors (Ranger Ink)
  • Jet Black Archival Ink (Ranger Ink)
  • Inksentialls Craft Sheet (Ranger Ink)
  • Glossy Accents (Ranger Ink)
  • Tim Holtz Stamp Alcohol Blending Tool – Not yet available in stores. You can use an old fashioned stamp mount with some Velcro on it for this same purpose.
  • Let Your Life Speak Stamp (River City Rubber Works)
  • Fish Stamp (Fred Mullett)
  • One Hole Circlez (Junkitz)
  • Small Amount of Craft Felt
  • Jump Ring (Optional)
  • Fiber (Optional)

Place your Craft Sheet down on your surface and put your Clear Circlez on it upside-down. (It is very important that you place the Circlez upside-down!)

Begin inking your Blending Tool with small dots of Alcohol Inks in various colors. Tim used five colors. Remember: a little goes a long way!

Begin to transfer the color to the back of the Circlez by placing your applicator onto the Circlez and turning your hand to have the colors mix.

Blow on the Alcohol Ink so it adds a “bubbled” effect.

Now for the fun part: you’re going to cause a chemical reaction! Ink up the Fish stamp with Black Archival Ink and leave your stamp rubber side up on your Craft Sheet. Note: This will only work with this ink, not a solvent-based ink.

Pick up the Circlez so that it is right-side up. Place the inked side onto the face of the fish and remove it to reveal a black image.

With a clean paper towel, buff the inked side of the Circlez. This will remove the Jet Black ink you just stamped on there, leaving a shadow of the original image.

The next step is to put the backing on the Circlez to show off the detail. Tim likes to, of course, add some rubber stamping. He stamps a piece of glossy cardstock, again using the Archival Black Ink.

Using the Whale of a Punch, punch out the circle (this is the exact same size as the Circlez!) where you can see some of the writing. Using the Circlez as a template, mark and then punch the hole to hang the Circlez.

Attach the stamped circle with Glossy Accents. Note that other Glossy adhesives will interact with the inks and will remove the fish image from the Circlez.

Attach stamped circle to the Circlez.

The finished product is a fun and funky pendant!

Attach a jump ring or use a slip knot to add a necklace.

Enjoy!
